I'm pretty sure that everybody has experienced a similar situation. You have landed on a website that promises an awesome ebook. Or you want to try the new website and you have to create an account there.
You only need to enter your email account.
But you know that quite often these offers are not so great as promised. And you don't want to use your account. You don't want to deal with spam in your Microsoft Outlook or Thunderbird and worry about how many lists your email will end.
Here is a quick and simple solution: create a free temporary address for verification only! Also known as a disposable email account, temp email, throwaway or one time address. Such account will work only for a day, one week, one month or just 24 hours. Or for any selected period. You'll stay completely hidden and no more spam will come to your mailbox.
You'll not get an IMAP or SMTP access, but who cares. You can get a new mail anytime you need. Bookmark this updated list. And whenever you need, you'll find a list of working temp email accounts.
And if you care about anonymity, it's a good idea to use free temporary vpn whenewer you are connecting on a free wifi ...
If you use a Gmail account, Yahoo Mail of FastMail, then you don't have to create a new email account. You can use the functions that your account offers. For Gmail and Fastmail use the plus sign and create as many aliases as you want. If your standard email is, for example, yourname@gmail.com, use yourname+something@gmail.com. To set up on YahooMail go to Settings->mailboxes->disposable email address. Here you can add and delete mailboxes. And you can have up to 500 addresses.
If you only need to send an anonymous message, there are several places that will help you to send an email without using your standard outgoing mail-server and so revealing your identity.
